To start any shell stitch baby blanket edge chains three. Single crochet three times every three stitches, working along the edge of the blanket until you reach a corner, single crochet seven times in the corner. Repeat around the blanket edge. Cut the yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail. Pull the yarn through the last loop to secure. Thread yarn end in the tapestry needle and weave end through the finished blanket. Do the same for the starting end of the yarn. This secures the first and last stitch, and hides yarn tails. Cut and discard any remaining tail yarn, close to the finished fabric.
